Love= the steamy kind

Dukes: the playboy all girls in ruffles and flounces are itching to push to the matrimonial altar.

Spinsters: the plain Jane with hidden passions too long forgotten

Isolde Ophelia Goodnight is twenty- six and destitute. Forever known as the sweet, gullible little girl from her father’s fairytales (The Goodnight Tales), she is desperately seeking a life separate from the one the stories created for her. But who would want her? She hasn’t a penny to her name, she’s plain… a spinster…

But then!

She inherits a castle, and the castle comes with a Duke! A very BIG Duke. A very sexy Duke. A very scarred Duke. A very blind Duke. (I’m still talking about one Duke, not four different Dukes, because that would make this a very different kind of book…) The Duke of Rothbury is in hiding after a mysterious run in with a sword that left him… yes, I’ve already said it- scarred and blind. He was hiding in his estate in Northumberland trying to recoup and get acquainted with his new lack of vision, when Izzy Goodnight shows up and literally swoons into his arms.

Sparks sizzle and fly fast for these two, and it’s a pretty good read.

My Favorite Part:

“Doubt not, my lady. I shall return…”

On the Characters:

Izzy gets a bit annoying.

Ransom gets a bit annoying.

But it’s a romance and the plot is where it’s at, and I thought Tessa Dare wrote a very clever little ditty of a romance.

In the end the characters redeem themselves too, and you’re left feeling pretty good about the story over all.

I can’t give away a lot of details on this book because there’s a BIG secret revealed very close to the end of the story. It’s a good secret too! I would definitely recommend this book. It’s a bit sappy, but isn’t that to be expected? It is a ROMANCE!

I came up with an analogy:

Lisa Kleypas is to Julia Quinn as Tessa Dare is to Julie Anne Long…

in my humble opinion.

Try a few of these books and see if you agree :

A Week to Be Wicked– Tessa Dare

One Dance With a Duke– Tessa Dare

A Lady By Midnight– Tessa Dare

When a Scot Ties the Knot– Tessa Dare

What I did For a Duke– Julie Anne Long

How the Marquess Was Won– Julie Anne Long

The Legend of Lyon Redmond– Julie Anne Long

Devil in Winter– Lisa Kleypas

It Happened one Autumn– Lisa Kleypas

Dreaming of You– Lisa Kleypas

Romancing Mr. Bridgerton– Julia Quinn

The Duke and I– Julia Quinn

The Viscount Who Loved Me– Julia Quinn
